Over 6 lakh people without electricity due to severe flood
Heavy rains and flash floods from India have caused severe flooding in Feni, Noakhali, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria and other areas of the country.
In this situation, power supply has been shut down to avoid accidents due to water rising in power substations and damage to electric poles at many places.
As a result, around 6 lakh people were left without electricity till Wednesday (August 21) evening in various flood-affected areas. Noakhali and Feni are most without electricity. About four lakh people are without electricity in Noakhali and about 3.5 lakh in Feni.
Officials of the Palli Bidyut Samiti fear that if the flood situation worsens, more areas may be left without electricity.
