Pakistan makes history by whitewashing Proteas on South African soil
At the iconic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday, Pakistan beat South Africa by 36 runs and became the first team to achieve a 3-0 ODI series whitewash on South African soil. This is the first time the Proteas have been whitewashed in a bilateral ODI series at home.
Saim Ayub’s brilliant 101 off 94 balls, supported by Babar Azam (52 off 71) and Mohammad Rizwan (53 off 52), guided Pakistan to 308/9 in a rain-shortened 47-over match.
South Africa’s chase, led by Heinrich Klaasen’s explosive 81 off 43 and Corbin Bosch’s 40 off 44, ended at 271 in 45.3 overs. Sufiyan Muqeem was the standout bowler with 4 wickets, while Ayub chipped in with 1/34 in 10 overs.
Saim Ayub was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his exceptional all-round performances.
