Pakistan repatriates 140 students from Bishkek amid Mob Attack in Kyrgyzstan
The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan urged its citizens in Kyrgyzstan to remain indoors following attacks on foreigners in the capital on Friday night, reportedly stemming from a dispute with migrants. Additionally, the ministry facilitated the repatriation of 140 Pakistani students from Bishkek in response to the violence.
The Interior Ministry confirmed that a special flight, carrying Pakistani students returning from Kyrgyzstan, landed at an airport in Lahore, Pakistan's eastern city, on Saturday.
The ministry also announced Pakistan's plans to employ additional flights to repatriate all individuals desiring to depart Bishkek amid the turmoil in the Central Asian nation.
As per local media reports, the violence erupted last week after a confrontation between Kyrgyz locals and foreigners within the city.
Earlier, Pakistan said its embassy in Bishkek was in contact with the Kyrgyz government to ensure the safety and security of its nationals. Some of the injured Pakistani students were treated at a local hospital in Bishkek, it said.
On Saturday, Pakistan summoned a Kyrgyz diplomat to lodge a protest over the alleged attacks on its nationals.
