Pier cap shutter of elevated expressway collapses in Ashulia

The pier cap shutter of the under-construction Dhaka-Ashulia elevated expressway has collapsed on a cargo lorry. However, no casualties have been reported.

The incident took place at 7:30pm on Tuesday (April 15) during the expressway work in the Bolibadra area of ​​the Nabinagar-Chandra highway.

Project Director Shafiqul Islam said, "The covered van hit a pillar in the Chandramukhi lane and the iron shutter collapsed from above. Our people have gone there."

He said, "The pier cap and pillar were cast before Eid. The shutters of that pillar are being removed. As the shutters are kept part-by-part, they are kept a little loose. The shutters fell on the covered van due to loss of control and impact. Although some shutters are broken, everything on the expressway is fine."
