Poet Nirmalendu Goon’s I Love You at book fair
Poet Nirmalendu Goon’s autobiographical verse novel I Love You, I LOVE YOU is now available at the book fair. This novel, which spans 50 years of his illustrious life, was initially published over six months on Facebook.
The book has been simultaneously published by Shapla Prokashon along with three other publishers.
About the novel, Goon wrote on Facebook, "It took me 50 years to write this 174-page novel. It is being published by four publishers at the Ekushey Book Fair."
Discussing the artistic cover featuring a camellia flower, he shared, "During a literary event in Melbourne, I stayed there for a few days. At the entrance of the house, there were two tall camellia trees. I had never seen camellia flowers before—that was my first time. My novel’s protagonist, Kaushiki, also lives in Melbourne. There is a strong resemblance between her and this camellia flower. Considering this, I found the cover design quite fitting. If we use a human image, we need permission; but flowers don’t require permission."
The stunning cover of the book was designed by renowned Bangladeshi artist Dhruba Esh. The 176-page novel I Love You is priced at 400 BDT. Starting today, fans of Goon can collect the book from Shapla Prokashon’s stall at the book fair.
