Police officer found dead with gunshot wound in Chattogram
A police officer named Palash Saha, 37, was found dead with a gunshot wound at the RAB-7 camp in Chandgaon of Chattogram. A note was found at the scene.
The body was recovered around 12:30pm on Wednesday (May 7) from the third floor of the RAB-7 camp in Chandgaon.
The deceased, Palash Saha, was an officer from the 37th BCS (Police Cadre) and was serving as a Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police with RAB-7.
In the note left behind, Palash wrote: “My mother and wife are not responsible for my death. I am responsible. I couldn't make anyone happy. My wife should take all the gold and live well. My two brothers should take care of our mother. Everything else besides the gold is for my mother. My sister should coordinate everything.”
Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-7, ARM Mozaffar Hossain, said, “Palash Saha committed suicide using his issued firearm. We rushed to his room after hearing a gunshot and found his body. He was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where doctors declared him dead. More details will be known after the autopsy.”
Md. Ashik, in-charge of the CMCH police outpost and a sub-inspector, said, “The body is currently at the hospital for autopsy. His family members are present, and the body will be handed over after the procedure.”
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Arif Hossain of the Panchlaish zone police said, “Palash Saha’s body was found with a gunshot wound in his office room. Police recovered the body after being notified.”
He added that a note related to his family was found at the scene, and an investigation is underway.
