The Election Commission is preparing for the 13th National Parliament elections as they are likely to be held in December this year, said Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar.

He told reporters in his room at the Election Building in Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday afternoon that the Election Commission (EC) is preparing for the 13th National Parliament elections based on the timeline announced by the current interim government. We are moving forward based on the announced timeline. That is December. The roadmap in this regard will be published between June-July.

When asked when the roadmap for the 13th National Parliament elections will be officially announced, the Election Commissioner said, "This commission has been moving forward based on its own work plan since it took oath. As an expression of that plan, the work of changing the administrative names of the seats in the reorganization of parliamentary seats is underway. We have brought the work of the voter list to its final stage. We have also reached a stage in the party registration process.

"If the law is amended, the change in the boundaries of the parliamentary constituencies can be completed within three months. We will be able to complete the pre-work of the work plan within the next three months. We hope that the printed work plan, which is usually published by the EC before the elections, will be printed around June-July," he added.
