Primary school teachers across the country are set to begin a hunger strike to death from June 23, demanding the fulfillment of three key demands.

Aminul Islam Chowdhury, president of the Primary Teachers Association, made the announcement during the Khulna Divisional Teachers' Rally held in Jashore on Saturday (May 31).

The planned strike aims to press for the cancellation of what the teachers have termed "illegal letters" concerning time scale benefits, restoration of seniority based on length of service, and the publication of gazette notifications for excluded head teachers.

As part of their movement, the association has also announced a mass rally to be held at Dhaka’s Central Shaheed Minar on June 22, ahead of the hunger strike.

The leaders warned that if their demands are not met, the protest will intensify in the coming days.
