Prof Shibli Rubayat again becomes BSEC chairman

Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam has again been appointed by the government as the chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the stock market regulator.

Finance Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Saturday.

According to the gazette, he is eligible for re-appointment for a further term of four years as Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam will be 56 years 4 months 15 days on May 16 this year.

According to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993, he can be contractually appointed as BSEC Chairman for another four-year term from May 17, 2024.

Last Thursday (April 4), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved his reappointment proposal.

The contractual appointment of Professor Shibli Rubayat was scheduled to end on May 16. He was rehired before this. Meanwhile, on March 31, a summary was sent to the Prime Minister from the Ministry of Finance to re-appoint Shibli Rubayat as the Chairman of BSEC for another term.
