Prof Shibli Rubayat reappointed as BSEC chairman

Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam has been reappointed as the chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for another four-year term. His reappointment was officially announced in a circular released by the Ministry of Finance on Sunday (April 28).

According to the circular, Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam has been reappointed for an additional four-year term, commencing either from May 17, 2024, or from the date he assumes his responsibilities, as per Section 5(6) of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993.

Professor Shibli Rubaiyat was appointed as the chairman of BSEC for the first time on 17 May 2020. Before this appointment, he held positions as a Professor in the Banking and Insurance Department and served as the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at Dhaka University. Additionally, he served as the chairman of the General Insurance Corporation for two terms.
