Prof Yunus awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree by Japan’s Soka University

Professor Yunus, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, was conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Japan’s prestigious Soka University on Friday, in recognition of his lifelong contributions to microcredit, social business, and poverty alleviation.

The degree was presented during a formal ceremony at the university’s conference hall, where Prof. Yunus also delivered a special lecture attended by students, faculty, and dignitaries.

Prof. Yunus arrived in Tokyo on Wednesday to attend the 30th Nikkei Forum: Future of Asia, a leading platform for political, economic, and academic leaders across the region. During his visit, he held bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, discussing key areas of mutual interest.

The Chief Adviser is on an official working visit to Japan from April 28 to 31 and is expected to return home Saturday night.
