Proposed budget is Tk 7.97 lakh crore

The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 is Tk 7.97 lakh crore. The target for the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has been set at Tk 4.80 lakh crore. Additionally, the budget deficit stands at Tk 2.56 lakh crore.

The budget for the new financial year will be proposed in the national parliament next Thursday (June 6).

The budget size has been increased by 4.62 percent compared to the current financial year. The target for foreign debt in the budget is set at Tk 1.27 lakh crore. The loan target from banks is Tk 1.37 lakh crore, and the estimated cost of loan interest payments is Tk 1.13 lakh crore.

Apart from this, the target for the sale of savings bonds has been set at Tk 15,400 crore.
