Proteas lead end of day, Taijul's 200 wickets

With six overs remaining, the first day of Bangladesh-South Africa Test ended early due to lack of light at the Mirpur Stadium. Earlier, South Africa scored 140 runs for 6 wickets, securing a lead by 34 runs.

South Africa lost 5 wickets for 99 runs in response to Bangladesh's 106 runs in the first innings. They lost 6 wickets for 108 runs. No more wickets fell after that.

Meanwhile, Taijul Islam took 5 wickets 13 times in Test cricket. Tony de Georgie scored the maximum 30 runs for South Africa. Hasan Mahmud took one wicket for Bangladesh.

Earlier, Bangladesh, who won the toss and went to bat, were in danger at the beginning. Sadman Islam got out for zero run and the batting disaster started. Then Mominul Haque (4), Nazmul Hossain Shanto (7), Mushfiqur Rahim (11), Liton Das (1) and Mehdi Hasan Miraj (13) got out.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy put up some resistance and scored 30 runs off 97 balls. Debutant Zakir Ali Anik got out for just 2 runs and the team lost 8 wickets for 76 runs.

In the end, Taijul Islam's contribution of 16 runs ended the team's innings with 106 runs. For South Africa, Wian Mulder and Kagiso Rabada took three wickets each, while Keshav Maharaj grabbed two wickets.
