Public security not in crisis: Quader
Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said there is no crisis regarding people's security.
Obaidul Quader came up with the remark on Wednesday morning (April 3) at Bangabandhu Bhaban in capital's Dhanmondi during the distribution of Iftar and Eid items among the general people.
He said, "Eid shopping is going on throughout the night. There were no isolated incidents while shopping. Despite that, a few people speak of insecurity. No one's safety was compromised."
Regarding daily commodity price, he said, "Even though the price of oil has increased in the market, the price of oil in Bangladesh has been adjusted. The price of goods is also decreasing. Today, BNP leaders talk big and cry for the poor. During Ziaur Rahman's tenure, many women went to Rangpur and enrolled in prostitution due to scarcity. Did they forget that history?"
Obaidul Quader said, "They (BNP leaders) ask why are there so many beggars in Dhaka City! Shame on them. They did not help even a poor person on this difficult day during the month of fasting, and did not distribute iftar items. They had an iftar party in a luxurious hotel. On the other hand, on the directions of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina, Awami League leaders and activists are distributing Iftar items across the country."
