Public transport to remain closed in Ijtema area from midnight
The final prayer of the first phase of the two-phase Bishwa Ijtema will be held tomorrow, Sunday, between 9am and 9:30am.
On the occasion, public transport will remain closed in the Ijtema area from Saturday midnight, said Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Dr Md Nazmul Karim Khan at a press conference organized at the Gazipur Metropolitan Police Control Room at Bishwa Ijtema Maidan on Saturday (February 1) morning.
The GMP Commissioner said from midnight on Saturday, the Tongi-Kamarpara Road, from Tongi to Bhogra Bypass in Gazipur on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway and from Abdullahpur to Bypail in Ashulia will be closed for traffic.
Khan said vehicles going to Mymensingh and Gazipur have been asked to use Gabtoli to Konabari road and vehicles going to Dhaka from Mymensingh have been asked to use Bhogra Bypass using a 300-foot Road. No goods-carrying vehicles will be allowed to ply on these roads during this time. However, all types of vehicles related to Ijtema will continue to operate normally.
He also said the Ijtema leaders have said that they will hold the Akheri Munajat between 9am and 9:30am on Sunday. “We are keeping an eye on the situation so that no untoward incident occurs. Hopefully, no chaos will be created,” he added.
Notable, the Akheri Munajat of the first part of the Ijtema will be conducted by Maulana Zubair Ahmed, the top leader of Tablighi Jamaat Bangladesh and also the khatib of Kakrail Jama Masjid.
