Quota protest halts traffic across capital

Traffic in the capital city of Dhaka has come to a halt after Tuesdasy (July 16) noon as anti-quota protesters took to the streets at different parts of the city.

Students of different private and public universities of Dhaka are holding road blockade and protest programme at various points of the capital.

The students are continuing their anti-quota movement at various places including Sciencelab intersection, Gabtali-Mohammedpur Embankment, Notun Bazar, Madhyabadda, Nadda/Basundhara residential area, Kuril Bishwaroad, Mohakhali-Banani road.
From Tuesday (July 16) morning, they took to the streets in small groups and took positions on different roads of the capital. At this time, they are seen chanting various slogans. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck on the roads due to the road blockade, leaving thousands of passengers suffer immensely.

Students of Dhaka College and seven colleges are staging demonstrations at ScienceLab intersection, students of University of Liberal Arts (ULAB) at Gabtali-Mohammadpur Beribandh area, students of United International University (UIU) at Notun Bazar/Satarkul area, students of BRAC University at Madhyabadda, students of North South University at the gate of Nadda/Basundhara residential area, students of American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) at Kuril Bishwa Road, students of BUBT and Bangla College at Mirpur 10 intersection, and students of Prime Asia University at Mohakhali-Banani road.

Besides, general students from various other colleges and universities have taken position at Uttara, Tantibazar area, Baili Road junction and Basabo Buddhist Temple area, blocking the road.
