Rab deployed as striking force ahead of elections

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has been deployed across Bangladesh alongside other law enforcement forces as part of the security plan to ensure holding a free, fair and peaceful national election slated for January 7, 2024.

The members of Rab will perform duties in all parliamentary constituencies as mobile and striking forces from Friday (December 29) to January 10 as per the Election Commission's (EC) decision, a RAB press release said today.

Rab members will play roles in maintaining peace and order in polling centers and counting of votes. In continuation of that, at least two patrol teams will be deployed in each seat for electoral duties while two patrol teams will be kept as reserve striking force in each battalion.

A total of 15 patrol teams will be ready as central reserve at Rab headquarters while 25 temporary camps will be set up across the country.
