Rail communication with Rajshahi resumes
Rail communication with Rajshahi has resumed after a brief disruption as a carriage of the Titumir Express train from Rajshahi to Chilahati was derailed in Rajshahi's Belpukur.
The derailment happened around 6:30am on Monday (13 January). Later, railway workers carried out rescue operations.
Rajshahi Railway Station Manager Shahidul Alam said the train left Rajshahi Railway Station at 6:20am. After crossing the Haryana station, a coach of the train derailed in Belpukur. As a result, rail communication with the rest of the country was suspended.
Due to the derailment of the train, the Banalata Express and Silk City Express operating from Rajshahi to Dhaka are stuck at Rajshahi Railway Station, and the Madhumoti Express train is stuck at Haryana Station.
The Banalata Express train was scheduled to leave Rajshahi Railway Station at 7am, and the Silk City train was scheduled to leave at 7:40am.
Besides, the Khulna-bound Mahamanda Express was also stuck at Rajshahi Railway Station.
Shahidul Alam said the line was cleared by 11:30am.
