Rain and thunderstorms expected across country

The Meteorological Office has reported that light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are expected across the country until Tuesday evening (September 3). Some areas may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

This information was provided in a special notice issued by Omar Faruq, meteorologist at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), on the morning of Sunday (September 1).

The notice stated that the monsoon depression over the Bay of Bengal moved northwest and crossed the North Andhra-South Odisha coast near Kalingapatnam between 1:00 pm. and 3:00 pm on Saturday (August 31). It may continue to move further west or northwest.

Under these circumstances, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports have been advised to lower their warning signals.

Meanwhile, another notification from the Meteorological Office states that the monsoon winds are currently less active over Bangladesh but remain moderate over the North Bay of Bengal. Rainfall is expected to increase over the next five days.
