Rain in 8 divisions likely

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain or thunderstorm in eight divisions of the country.

According to the weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 9:00am on Tuesday (7 May), many places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and some places in Rangpur division may experience rain with gusty winds or rain with thunder.

Apart from this there may be scattered hail at some places, says a press release.

It also said that a mild heat wave is moving over Gopalganj, Jashore and Chuadanga districts and may subside.

According to the meteorological ofice, the country's highest rainfall of 130 millilitres was recorded in Feni in the last 24 hours. Apart from this, day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.

Yesterday's maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jashore and today's minimum temperature of 18.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bandarban.

Regarding the synoptic conditions, the Meteorological Department said the extension of the western low pressure is extending from West Bengal through the southwestern part of Bangladesh to the northwestern Bay of Bengal.
