Rain likely across the country on May 4, 5
Amid the prevailing severe heatwave, Bangladesh Meteorological Department(BMD) has indicated the likelihood of rain across the country on May 4 and 5.
Meteorologist Md Shahinul Islam from the Directorate revealed this information during a press conference at the Directorate of Meteorology on Tuesday (April 30).
He said, "During this heatwave, only two parts of the country are getting rain. Now its extent will increase gradually."
According to the latest forecast given by the Meteorological Department in the morning, there may be rain or thunder with gusty wind in two places in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions today in this heatwave. And on Thursday, along with these two divisions, Dhaka and Barisal divisions may receive rain in one place each. However, on May 4 to 5, large parts of the country may experience rain.
It also said that severe heatwaves are passing over Jashore, Chuadanga, Rajshahi and Pabna districts. Apart from this, severe heatwaves are passing through Dhaka Division and the remaining areas of Rajshahi and Khulna Divisions. It will continue today.
Meanwhile, The Department of Meteorology reported that April experienced the longest-lasting heat wave in the last 76 years.
In this regard, the meteorologist of the directorate, Md Umar Farooq, said, "After analyzing the data since 1948, there has not been a continuous heatwave like this time before. This time the record of 76 years was broken."
