Rain likely in 5 divisions on Thursday
Across various regions of the country, people are enduring the harsh impacts of a severe heatwave. Following a prolonged heatwave, rain is finally predicted in various regions across the country. The Meteorological Department has announced the likelihood of rainfall in five parts of the country, including Dhaka, on Thursday (May 2).
According to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Meteorology on Wednesday morning, the next 24-hour forecast from 9:00 am on Thursday suggests that some areas in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, as well as two or more places in Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Barisal divisions, may experience rain accompanied by gusty winds or thunderstorms. There is a possibility of hail in certain areas. Meanwhile, the weather in other parts of the country is expected to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.
The forecast also said the prevailing heatwave may subside from some parts of the eastern part of the country. At the same time, daytime temperatures could decrease by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius in the eastern part of the country, while remaining relatively stable elsewhere. Nighttime temperatures are expected to decrease by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius across the country.
