Rajuk gets new chairman

Major General (retired) Siddiqur Rahman Sarkar has been appointed as the new chairman of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) for a period of two years, according to a Public Administration Ministry notification issued on Thursday (April 4).

According to the notification issued by the contract and foreign recruitment wing of the ministry, as per Section 4 (2) of the Town Improvement Act 1953, Siddiqur Rahman has been contractually appointed as the Rajuk chairman on the condition of severing working relationship with other institutions and organisations.

The notification states that he will hold the post for a period of 2 years from the date of his joining. The notification also mentions that other terms and conditions of this appointment will be determined by the approved contract.

Siddiqur Rahman, born on August 10, 1963 in Narsingdi, joined the Bangladesh Military Academy in 1982. During his service life, he served as the Commander of the Military Institute of Science and Technology and as the Engineer-in-Chief of the Army. He was the first to be appointed as the chairman of Rajuk from the army.
