Rakibul Haque new Bangladeshi ambassador in Italy
The government has decided to appoint ATM Rakibul Haque, the current Director General of the South Asia Department under the Foreign Ministry, as the next ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy.
The professional diplomat will replace the current ambassador Md Monirul Islam says a Foreign Ministry press release on Sunday (June 9).
Rakibul Haque, a professional diplomat of the 20th batch of Foreign Affairs cadre, has been serving as the DG of the South Asia Division of the foreign ministry since 2021. Earlier, he was the Deputy High Commissioner at the Bangladesh Mission in New Delhi.
Diplomat Rakibul Haque has served in various capacities in Bangladesh’s Permanent Mission at the United Nations in New York, besides Islamabad and Hague.
During his tenure at the Bangladesh Mission in New York, Rakibul Haque made significant contributions to issues such as gender, human rights, health, youth and children's social issues. Besides, several resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly including the resolution on the culture of peace were passed under his presidency.
Rakibul Haque has served in important positions in the Foreign Ministry. He completed his Masters in Economics from Dhaka University.
