RCC mayor gets rank of state minister again

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has got the status of state minister again, according to a notification issued by order of the President on Tuesday (April 09).

Mayor Liton, also a presidium member of Awami League, expressed immense gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on behalf of the people of Rajshahi for getting the status of State Minister.

According to the notification signed by Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, the government has taken a decision that the Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukdar Abdul Khalek and the RCC Mayor Liton will be given the status of State Minister. Their honorarium and other benefits will be determined as per the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009.

Mentionable, Liton was elected as the mayor for the third time in the RCC elections on June 21. Earlier, he was the RCC mayor for the first term from 2008 to 2013 and in the second term from 2018 to 2023. At that time he also got the rank of State Minister.
