BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that reforms will continue independently, and elections will take place as planned.

He made the remark while exchanging post-Eid greetings with party leaders and activists at his residence in Thakurgaon Tatipara on Tuesday afternoon ( April 1).

Mirza Fakhrul noted that the current interim government, which came to power with public support, has introduced state reform initiatives, including the formation of a reform commission. BNP has reviewed these proposals and provided its feedback to the commission. He mentioned that discussions on the reforms will continue, with further engagements planned with BNP and other political parties.

He highlighted that six reform commissions have been formed, and BNP has submitted its opinions to each. The next step involves discussion and consensus-building, leading to the preparation of a 'Charter of Reform' that all political parties will sign. Those elected in the upcoming elections will be responsible for implementing these reforms.

Fakhrul emphasized that BNP has consistently worked on political reforms, citing the party’s previous 31-point agenda and ongoing engagement through grassroots programs such as ward-based Iftar gatherings. He reiterated that elections are expected to take place by December, as indicated by the chief advisor.

Regarding the chief adviser’s recent visit to China, Mirza Fakhrul described it as a significant achievement for the interim government. He noted that, under the previous Awami League government, China maintained a one-sided relationship. However, with the change in administration, China has re-evaluated its stance and is now engaging with all political parties. He expressed optimism about China’s commitment to investing in Bangladesh’s development.

The event was attended by BNP leaders, including District BNP Finance Secretary Shariful Islam Sharif, Joint Secretary Poygam Ali, and Publicity Secretary Mamunur Rashid, along with other party activists.
