Rice mill boiler explosion kills 2 in Pabna
At least two persons including a child were killed after a boiler at a rice mill at Faridpur upazila in Pabna exploded while boiling paddy.
The incident took place in the rice mill of Jahangir Alam at Kashipur village in the upazila around 10:30am on Thursday (March 21).
The deceased have been identified as Jahangir Alam (37), son of Abdur Razak and owner of the rice mill, Tarek Hossain (5), son of Pakhi Khatun of Gopalnagar village in the upazila. Pakhi was a labourer working in the rice mill.
Witnesses said Jahangir died on the spot as the explosion of the boiler dismembered his body. At that time, Tarek Hossain was seriously injured when a piece of the exploded boiler fell on him. The child was immediately rushed to upazila health complex where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Faridpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman said, “On information, a police team was sent to the spot as soon as possible. Senior police officials along with me also visited the spot. The bodies have been handed over to the family.”
