RMG workers stage demo on Bishwa Road demanding ARREARS

The workers of a readymade garment (RMG) factory staged demonstration blockading the Kuril-Bishwaroad area in the capital demanding their due arrears on Wednesday (May 154) afternoon, creating severe traffic jam in that area. The workers of Euro Zone Fashions Limited on Zamzam Road in Zoar Sahara area blocked the road around 5:30pm.

According to the traffic department, due to the blockade of RMG workers at the Kuril intersection, the traffic movement from Kuril to Dhaka got stopped in both directions. This caused traffic jam on the road from Khilkhet to Pragati Sarani. Vehicle pressure increased even towards 300 Feet road. Police officers and forces are working to normalize the situation quickly. Traffic is expected to resume very soon. Passengers going to the airport have been requested to avoid the road.

Aggrieved RMG workers said their salaries and allowances are due for a long time. They are angry because there is no solution.

They also said that they will not withdraw from the road until they get a specific commitment. Meanwhile, due to road blockade by the workers, heavy traffic has been created in the Kuril Bishwaroad area.

Gulshan Division Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Hasanuzzaman Molya said the workers of Euro Zone Fashions are blocking the road below the Kuril flyover. Additional police have been deployed there to prevent any kind of untoward situation.
