Robbers hack gold trader to death, loot 25 bhori
A group of robbers hacked a gold trader to death in front of his wife and looted approximately 25 bhori of gold in Savar on Sunday night. The victim, 47-year-old Dilip Das, was the owner of the jewellery store Dilip Swarnalay.
The incident occurred around 9:00pm at Nayarhat Bazaar Swarnapotti, an area renowned for its many gold jewellery shops.
According to witnesses, four armed men arrived in a white car and set off crude bombs to generate panic. They then confronted Dilip, who was getting ready to close his shop, and stabbed him multiple times before seizing the bag of gold he was carrying. His wife was with him during the incident.
The attackers detonated additional crude bombs before escaping in their vehicle.
Dilip was quickly taken to Enam Medical College Hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Dilip's wife, Saraswati Das, said, "The armed men hacked my husband to death and looted 20 to 25 bhori of gold from his bag right in front of me."
A hospital source stated that Dilip died due to excessive bleeding.
Kamal Hossain, Inspector (Investigation) of Ashulia Police Station, said, "Law enforcement was present at the scene, and an investigation is underway."
