Russia to provide 30,000 tonnes of free potash fertiliser
Russia will provide 30,000 metric tonnes of potash fertiliser to Bangladesh completely free of charge.
According to a press release, this fertiliser will be provided under the United Nations World Food Programme.
Russian second largest ammonia and nitrogen fertiliser manufacturing company Uralchem group's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dmitry Konyaev in a letter informed the agriculture ministry, it added.
Uralchem works to ensure global food security.
Acting ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh Ekaterina Semenova formally handed over the letter to Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday.
Russian Ambassador Alexander Mantytskiy had first mentioned about the fertliser shipment to Bangladesh during a courtesy call with the agricultural adviser on 29 August.
Russia is one of the top suppliers of wheat and fertiliser to Bangladesh.
