Secretariat fire still not under control, 19 units working

A building in the country's administrative center, the Secretariat, has caught fire. More than four hours have passed, but the fire has not been brought under control.

A total of 19 units of the fire fighters are working to bring the fire under control, but the intensity is not decreasing.

While visiting the spot on Thursday morning, it was seen that the entire building was burning from one end to the other. The flames are visible from outside. The area is covered in a coil of black smoke along with the fire.

Members of the Army, Police and APBN are assisting the Fire Service in controlling the fire. After the fire broke out in the initial stage, the number of police and army members increased at the scene. Then two platoons of BGB members were brought to the Secretariat for rescue assistance. Members of these three forces are now providing security to the area and are assisting the fire fighters in controlling the fire.

Initially, it is known that several important departments, including the Cabinet Division, are located in building number seven of the Secretariat.

According to the information provided on the website of the Cabinet Division, the Secretariat building number 7 houses offices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Ministry of Labor and Employment, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.

Earlier, the news of the fire was received at 1:52 am on Wednesday (December 25).

Rafi Al Faruk, Duty Officer of the Fire Service Control Room, told the media that the Fire Service unit located in the Secretariat initially tried to control the fire from 1:54am.

A few minutes later, as the intensity of the fire increased, 19 units reached the spot in phases and are working to control the flame.

Initially, the cause of the fire couldn’t be not known.
