Section 144 imposed at Madhyanagar in Sunamganj

The upazila administration has imposed Section 144 at Madhyanagar Bazar under Madhyanagar upazila in Sunamganj, banning meetings, gatherings and processions for an indefinite period.

The measure has been taken in the wake of the chase and counter-chase between two factions of BNP centring the arrest of a police suspect and the vandalism of a party office.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Ujjwal Roy issued a notification imposing Section 144 in the area from 6pm on Friday (February 21).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhyanagar Police Station Sajib Rahman said based on specific information and evidence, Upazila Ward Jubo League Vice-President Mizanur Rahman Mizan has been arrested. The administration has imposed Section 144 in this regard due to fear of clashes.
