Security beefed up ahead of Bishwa Ijtema: IGP

Law and order and security measures have been strengthened much more than before in Bishwa Ijtema. Law and order forces are vigilant and alert to avoid any kind of chaos.

IGP Baharul Alam said these things at a press briefing in front of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police control room near the foreign residence of Bishwa Ijtema Maidan on Wednesday (January 29) afternoon.

The IGP said that about seven thousand law and order forces will be responsible for security in this Bishwa Ijtema. In addition, about ten thousand volunteers have been appointed by Biswa Ijtema to work in Tablighi Jamaat. The entire Ijtema Maidan has been brought under the control of 335 CCTV cameras. This time, the Ijtema will be monitored by drones. In addition, RAB helicopter patrols and members of the Naval Police will patrol the Turag River in speed boats.

He further said that twenty check posts have been set up around the Ijtema Maidan. Movements will be monitored through binoculars from the watch tower. Police members in plain clothes will be on duty in each area inside the Ijtema Maidan.
