Security measures enhanced at The Daily Star, Prothom Alo offices
Police forces have been deployed to enhance security outside The Daily Star and Prothom Alo's office since noon, following a threat that emerged on social media in mid-October.
Confirming the matter, Mobarak Hossain, officer-in-charge at Tejgaon Police Station, said, "Additional police forces have been deployed in front of both The Daily Star and Prothom Alo to prevent any untoward situation.
Earlier on mid-October, a group of religious leaders had announced on social media that they would lay siege to the offices of these newspapers after Friday prayers.
Additionaly, police personnel with an armoured personnel carrier and a water cannon truck were deployed in front of the New Market City Complex, which houses the Kalbela office.
However, no damage has been reported yet.
