Shafiq Rehman gets back declaration of ‘Jaijaidin’ newspaper

Journalist Shafiq Rehman has got back the declaration of daily ‘Zayzaydin’ newspaper.

This information was revealed in an office order signed by Dhaka District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Tanvir Ahmed on Tuesday (March 18), said Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Dhaka District Administration Office Nusrat Naushin.

Earlier, the government cancelled the declaration of the national daily following an application by the newspaper's former editor Shafiq Rehman, alleging that it violated publication rules.

Shafiq Rehman had alleged that the newspaper was not being printed from the press authorised to publish it, but false information was being printed on the printers' line.

In view of this, after taking all necessary measures including issuing a show cause notice, the declaration in the name of Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury, the publisher and printer of the newspaper, was cancelled.
