Filmmaker Sahadat Russell received the 'Best Human Rights Activist' award for his contribution to human rights through films and writing.

The 'International Achievers Award-2024' programme was held in Nepalese capital of Kathmandu on Sunday (September 15), jointly organised by Nepal Culture and Film Centre and the British College of Nepal. Rasel was presented with this award at that event.

Earlier, he received several awards from France, America, India and Bangladesh for making films on human rights.

Human rights activists, filmmakers, writers, political figures of different countries as well as people who have worked on various social issues and made significant contributions to society were also honoured in the event.

Award winner Sahadat Russell said, "Actually, this award is special to me. Because despite receiving many awards, this is the first time I have received an award for human rights work. This award will surely encourage me to work on human rights in the future.

He said, “The 4th Spiny Bubbler International Film Festival was held in Nepal on September 12. I was there as a judge in the international film category. I also participated there. A cultural exchange programme has been planned between Bangladesh and Nepal. Discussions are going on with Nepal government and some organisations in this regard. Maybe soon I will be able to give details.”

Culture Minister of Nepal Bimal Tagore, Miss Universe Doctor Suhasini Sudan Madame, Indian filmmakers Amal Bhagat, filmmaker and organizer Santosh Subedi, officials of government and private institutions and others were the guests at the event.
