Shakib Al Hasan sued over killing of garment worker
A murder case has been filed against cricketer and former Awami League MP Shakib Al Hasan over the killing of a garment worker in the capital during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
Rafiqul Islam, father of slain garment worker Rubel, filed the case with Adabor police station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Thursday (August 22).
Shakib has been named as the 28th accused in the case, said Inspector (Investigation) of Adabor police station Md Nazrul Islam.
The other accused in the case are former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, General Secretary of AL Obaidul Quader and 154 others. 500 more people have been kept unnamed in the charge sheet.
According to the case statement, Rubel was shot by the direct and indirect order of the accused when he took part in a procession at the Ring Road area of Adabor on August 5.
Rubel was rushed to the hospital with bullets in his chest and stomach and he died on August 7.
