Sheikh Sadi Khan removed from BTV
Legendary music director and composer Sheikh Sadi Khan has been removed from Bangladesh Television (BTV) after voicing concerns about irregularities. A descendant of Alauddin Khan and Ayet Ali Khan, he has been removed from the long-running BTV program Smritimoy Gaan Gulo, where he contributed for nearly nine years. Researcher Munshi Abdul Wadud has been accused of playing a key role in this decision.
Following Sheikh Sadi Khan's removal, singer Abdul Hadi has taken over as the program's music director. Hadi initially joined the show as a music analyst, while lyricist Munshi Abdul Wadud continues as the program's researcher. Sheikh Sadi Khan was the original architect of the show and played a key role in bringing Munshi Wadud to BTV during the Awami League government's tenure. However, over time, Wadud allegedly changed his stance and assumed sole control of the program.
According to reports, Sheikh Sadi Khan, an Ekushey Padak recipient, was removed for advocating artists' rights and criticizing irregularities at BTV. Munshi Wadud is believed to have played a significant role in this decision. Since 2016, Sadi had served as the program's main planner and music director.
