Shoriful gets injured in warm-up game, receives 6 stitches
Bangladesh team’s left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam has received injuries during the official warm-up game against India in New York. He got six stitches after sustaining the injury on his left hand, which is his bowling hand, making his participation Bangladesh's first 2024 T20 World Cup match against Sri Lanka doubtful.
He hurt his left palm as Hardik Pandya hit the ball straight back at him during the last over of India's innings on Saturday.
In the warm-up match, the fast bowler gave away 26 runs in 3.5 overs and picking up the wicket of Sanju Samson.
Bangladesh will have to wait for a couple of days more to know about Shoriful's fitness status, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury.
Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in a crucial encounter on June 8 which could have a big say in the qualification scenario.
