Show cause notice issued against BNP leader for child abuse in Sirajganj
A local BNP leader named Fakir Jewel Rana has been charged with abusing a 13-year-old child in Chauhali, Sirajganj. A three-member investigation committee has been formed by the Upazila BNP in this incident. Along with this, a show cause notice has been issued against Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Fakir Jewel Rana.
This information was given in a letter signed by Upazila BNP Office Secretary Rezaul Karim on Sunday night.
The letter said that allegations of child abuse are being made against Fakir Jewel Rana. Which spread on social media on Sunday. This has greatly damaged the image of the party. If he fails to show reason in this regard within 72 hours, organizational action will be taken against Jewel Rana.
In this regard, Chauhali Upazila BNP President Zahid Mollah said, "The accused Jewel Rana has been booked after learning about the matter. In addition, a 3-member investigation committee has been formed by the party to investigate the incident, headed by Upazila BNP President Hamidul Islam Dulal, Vice President Jahangir Sikder and Upazila Jubo Dal President Arman Hossain Habib. They have been asked to submit their report within 3 working days.’
Meanwhile, Jewel Rana denied the allegations and said, ‘A false conspiracy is being hatched against me to frame me. Proof of this can only be found by physically examining the child.’
It is learned that the victim was called to the upazila headquarters around 11 pm on Saturday based on a previous acquaintance. Later, the child returned home and informed her relatives, and the matter came to light. After that, the incident spread on social media. The child who was tortured is a student of a local school.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chauhali Police Station Ziaur Rahman said, ‘We have heard about the child abuse incident from people. However, no one has complained about it so far. Necessary legal action will be taken if a complaint is received.
Meanwhile, no case has been filed with the police station by the victim or his family as of Monday morning.
