Sports journalist Sadi's solo painting exhibition begins

The first solo painting exhibition of young painter Sayeed Sadi has been inaugurated at Shafiuddin Shilpalaya at Dhanmondi in the capital on Friday.

The exhibition, titled 'Self Expression', was inaugurated by Bangla Academy Director General Mohammad Nurul Huda at 6:00pm on Friday (July 12).

Eminent painter and freedom fighter Abul Barak Alvi presided over the event also attended, among others, by painter Abdul Mannan and daily Desh Rupantar Editor Mustafa Mamun as special guests.

Sadi has been involved in sports journalism and news presentation for more than a decade. In his own words, he has tried to portray the various colours of nature in his abstract paintings being exhibited under the.

Commenting on how he turned into a painter, Sadi said, “I was a student of English literature. I have no formal education in painting. I try to learn by following thousands of painters from home and abroad on social platforms. I wanted to play with colours since my childhood.”

“I have taken part in several small exhibitions before this. But it was in 2022 when I dared to work with acrylic paint on canvas. By time, it became an addiction. I am trying to move forward with the motivation and dreams of family and close people,” he added.

In the five-day exhibition, 50 paintings are being exhibited. The exhibition, open to visitors daily from 11am to 8pm, will continue till next Tuesday.
