St Joseph's School teacher Humayun Kabir obtains PhD

Mohammad Humayun Kabir, a lecturer of St Joseph Higher Secondary School in the capital, has obtained his PhD degree by researching the short stories of famous writer Moinul Ahsan Saber.

He was awarded the degree at the Syndicate Session of Jahangirnagar University on Thursday (May 23).

Mohammad Humayun Kabir was born in Konamalanch village of Melandah thana in Jamalpur district. He passed SSC from Hazrabari High School in 1990 and HSC from Dhaka City College in 1992. He received his bachelor's degree (honours) in 1996 and his master's degree in 1997 from the Bengali department of Jahangirnagar University.

In 2000, he started teaching at the traditional St Gregory's School and College in Old Dhaka. In addition to teaching, he enrolled in Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) course, titled 'Moinul Ahsan Saber's Short Stories: Subjects and Art Forms', in the Bengali Department of Jahangirnagar University in the academic year 2012-13.

In 2014, the MPhil course was converted into a PhD course. In the same year, he changed his workplace and joined St Joseph Higher Secondary School as a lecturer.

Later, in December last year, he submitted the research paper for PhD. After reviewing the recommendations of the Board of Advanced Studies, the University Syndicate awarded him a PhD.
