Strengthening security in police establishments ordered
The police headquarters has ordered to strengthen security in any police establishment including police stations across the country. At the same time, it has also been asked to increase the security of weapons and ammunition.
According to the instructions, at least three sentry posts have to be constructed in all police stations. Apart from this, instructions on how to counter any attack on police station or any police establishment have been sent from the police headquarters to all units.
Additional Inspector General of Police Md Anwar Hossain on Friday (April 26) said, "Following the recent arms robbery in Bandarban, it has been instructed to organize alarm parade at all the police units. However, it is part of the routine."
Meanwhile, like the police headquarters, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has also issued a circular instructing to strengthen the security of police stations and police establishments.
In the DMP circular issued last Tuesday, it was instructed to construct at least three permanent sentry posts in every police station. However, in view of reality, this number may be more or less. It also instructed to deploy double sentries on duty at night.
Apart from this, it has been instructed not to eat food provided by outsiders, and not to keep an additional number of policemen on leave. Besides, if someone from outside enters the police station after a certain period at night; they should be allowed to enter after a thorough checking.
DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman said, "The instructions have been given not for any specific threat, but to keep everyone alert."
