Students' demand for half fare in metro rail is illogical: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the demand for half fare of students in metro rail is illogical. He came up with the remark while talking to reporters at the secretariat on Sunday (February 4).
Obaidul Quader said, "Metrorail is a modern public transport that has come to Bangladesh. It needs to be encouraged. How much money will spend here? How much money does cost to travel to Motijheel from Uttara? This (half fare for students on metro rail) is an illogical demand. There is no such example anywhere in the world.”
Earlier on Saturday, a group of students formed a human chain demanding half fare for students using metro rail. They said the current fare is not affordable for them. They also demanded the minimum fare of Tk 10 for everyone to make it more affordable.
