Students stage sit-in at NU main gate

Students of National University are staging a sit-in in front of the main gate of the university demanding withdrawal of the Education Ministry letter regarding on-campus honours programme and continuation of specific educational activities

Since Tuesday (January 21) morning, students have been protesting blocking the NU main gate in Gazipur. The protest was continuing while filing this report at 10:30am.

Meanwhile, since the main gate of the university was blocked, none of the university teachers, officials and employees could enter the university since morning. Police and law enforcement officials reached the spot after receiving the information.

The protesting students said the National University authorities have not taken any action so far regarding the on-campus honours admission circular for the 2024-25 session, but are spreading various types of propaganda regarding the third batch of honours admission circular.

They said although a long time has passed since the VC's assurance to withdraw the letter issued against the interests of the students by the Education Ministry, no effective action has been taken till date. Therefore, a clear announcement should be made to fulfil their demands immediately.
