Sagar-Runi murder case
Submission of investigation report deferred again as usual
The submission date of investigation report in journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Mehrun Runi murder case has been postponed for the 108th times on Thursday (May 16). Today was fixed as the date for submitting the investigation report in the case.
But the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque has fixed June 30 as the next date for submitting the investigation report, as the investigation agency RAB again failed to submit the report.
On February 11, 2012, Sagar Sarwar, news editor of Machranga Television and Mehrun Runi, senior reporter of ATN Bengal, were killed at their own flat in the capital.
After that, Runi's brother Nawsher Alam Roman filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.
Initially, the investigating officer of the case was a Sub-Inspector (SI) of that police station. After four days, the investigation of this sensational murder case was handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB).
After more than two months of investigation, DB failed to solve the mystery. Later, on the order of the High Court, the investigation of the murder case was handed over to RAB on April 18 of the same year.
