Sushant Singh Rajput death case: CBI concludes investigation confirming suicide

After five years of speculation surrounding the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the CBI has officially confirmed that the actor died by suicide.

The agency submitted its final report to the Mumbai court on Saturday, (March 22) clarifying that there was no evidence to suggest murder, reports The Indian Express.

Initially reported as a suicide, the CBI’s final investigation reiterated this conclusion, with no new findings or angles emerging. A CBI official confirmed the submission of the report in the Bandra court but declined to comment further on the reasons for closing the case.

The final report includes witness testimonies and case details. The next hearing is scheduled for April 8.

Earlier, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput's body was found at his Bandra apartment. Sushant’s office assistant, Disha Salian, died a week prior, and her father has since petitioned the Bombay High Court for a fresh investigation into her death, which remains shrouded in mystery.

Sushant’s cousin Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu also called for a re-investigation. However, the CBI has decided to close the case, ruling out foul play in both deaths.
