Former national cricket team captain Tamim Iqbal Khan has said that those who do not want to work for the development of their respective areas, should not come to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

He said this at the debut ceremony of the Bangladesh District and Divisional Sports Organizers Association at the National Sports Council (NSC) on Saturday (May 3).

Tamim Iqbal told the sports organizers: "I will make a small request to you that is: Those who are qualified to represent cricket, whether from the district or division, and have a basic cricketing idea or a dream that I want to take Bangladesh cricket to this place, I will request that they be selected."

"We consider cricket to be the biggest game in Bangladesh. I am saying this with respect to other games. But if this happens in the biggest game, if someone does not improve their district-division cricket, then there is no need for them to come to the board," he added.

Recalling the bitter experience of the past, this former captain said: "Many times it is seen that someone comes to BCB from a district or division and becomes a director. But later they forget about their own district or region. This is not desirable at all, rather leadership means contributing to the development of one's own home."

At this time, Tamim Iqbal also admitted the weakness of the regional cricket structure and said: "I went to Barisal a few days ago. I saw that there is not even a good quality league there. Yet we say that cricket is our biggest game!"
