Tarique Rahman acquitted in all cases, 'no obstacle to return to the country'
The court has acquitted BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in the case filed for accepting bribes to get immunity in the murder of Bashundhara Group engineer Sabbir. His lawyers said that with this, all the cases filed against Tarique Rahman in the trial court have been concluded.
The Special Judge Court-3 announced the verdict on Thursday (March 20) morning. As a result, there are no more cases against Tarique Rahman and Babar in the trial court, said BNP lawyers.
Mala's charge sheet states that a bribe of Tk 21 crore was taken to get immunity from liability for the murder of Bashundhara Group director Engineer Sabbir, Safiat Sobahan Sanvir. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case as the plaintiff at 11:00 AM.
BNP lawyer Borhan Uddin told reporters that the ACC could not present any evidence against the accused. Now that there are no cases against him, there is no obstacle for Tarique Rahman to return to the country and engage in politics.
