BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman has been acquitted in a sedition case filed in Noakhali in 2014.

Special Judge Ahsan Tarique announced the verdict on Tuesday, declaring Tarique Rahman innocent.

Tarique Rahman's lawyer, Advocate ABM Zakaria, informed the matter to reporters.

According to court sources, in December 2014, Tarique Rahman, while in London, made comments calling Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a "Razakar" and "Pakbandhu." Following this, Ekramul Haque Biplob, the convener of Noakhali District Jubo League, filed the case.

Advocate Zakaria stated that the case was false and aimed at harassing Tarique Rahman. He added that legal action will be taken against the plaintiff, Ekramul Haque Biplob.
